We are now less than 8 hours away from kickoff of the conference championships in the NFL. The Baltimore Ravens, The New England Patriots, the San Francisco 49ers, and the New York Giants will all be striving to reach Americas most popular sporting event, the Superbowl. With that lets look at some of the possible Superbowl storylines that would be most compelling for viewers. Let me know which one you want to see.

The Harbaugh Brothers

A classic sibling rivalry scenario. Does it get any better? Jim Harbaugh has been in the limelight (deservedly) all year after turning around the 49ers in his first ever coaching stint. John meanwhile has been a steady winner in Baltimore for several years now.  They already played once this year on Thanksgiving, slugging out a pretty boring 16-6 game won by John and the Ravens. But that was Thanksgiving. Nothing was on the line. This is the Superbowl and the stage couldn’t be bigger. These bragging rights will forever trump the Thanksgiving Day jeers.

Rematch

I know everyone in New England has been begging for this since they saw the playoff matchups. The rematch of the 2008 Superbowl certainly is intriguing. It was one of the bets superbowls of all time, with the young underdog Giants knocking off Tom Brady and the 18-0 Pats in the most dramatic fashion. Im sorry, I meant 18-1. Since that day Pats fans have eagerly been awaiting their chance at revenge. This is it.

Eli

Whether or not the Pats play the Giants or not, how crazy would it be to see Eli win his second superbowl in Indianapolis? His older brother has long since been considered to be one of the greatest qb’s to ever play the game. But his playoff record has been shaky at best. Now Eli would get the chance to not only pass up his brothers superbowl tally, but also claim “the greatest modern clutch qb” award, all on his brothers home field! He may even put his name into the conversation as better than his brother.

East Coast vs West Coast

Nobody seems to be talking about a 49ers/Pats matchup.  They should be though. Who doesn’t love the coastal rivalry. Tom Brady grows up a 49ers fan. Now hes the face of the east coast. There was Tupac and Biggie, theres Lakers vs Celtics, and theres the whole LA vs NYC “whats a better city to live in” thing going on. There is just something about the two sides of the country that naturally hate each other, in a charming kind of way. You also  get arguably the NFL’s best qb and offense vs the best defense along with one of the NFL’s most  legendary coaches against a rookie coach who looks like hes on the fastrack to greatness himself. Sound compelling now, doesn’t it.

Baltimore to Indy

Back in the day the colts infamously were moved from Baltimore to Indy in the middle of the night, leaving a bitter taste in the people of Baltimore that continues to this day. How great would it be to win the big one in the Colts new stadium? Revenge is sweet right? I couldnt think of a better F U way to go out.

With that said I am eagerly awaiting the two games. Im personally hoping to see the Pats vs Giants rematch, with the hopes the Giants win again. Theres nothing I enjoy more than a demoralized Boston sports fan.
